Yellow House Trail & Lodge

About the Business

Located at the scenic gateway to Mindo, Ecuador, Yellow House Trail & Lodge is a 200-hectare (494-acre) private sanctuary lovingly managed by the Garzón Jaramillo family. This unique retreat combines the warmth of a historic hacienda with the majesty of primary and secondary cloud forest, offering visitors a deep immersion into one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.

The heart of the property is its extensive network of 6 kilometers of marked trails that wind through dense jungle vegetation. Trail number 3 is particularly famous, leading hikers to a spectacular viewpoint with panoramic views of the entire Mindo valley, an ideal spot to watch the clouds drift over the Andean mountains.

For birdwatching enthusiasts, the lodge is an unparalleled paradise. With an impressive list of over 470 recorded species, including hummingbirds, quetzals, and toucans, it is a premier destination for ornithologists and nature photographers. Guests enjoy a traditional breakfast while dozens of hummingbirds flit around the feeders, creating a magical experience just steps from their rooms.

Accommodations at Yellow House are rustic, impeccable, and cozy, designed to maximize the connection with the natural environment. Each cabin features private balconies equipped with hammocks, allowing visitors to relax to the sound of nearby rivers and the song of tropical birds, all just a five-minute walk from the center of Mindo town.
